ADMT Energy Conservation for KIDS

1.Who do you think are the target audience of this clip?
2.What do you think are the main key messages that the clip is trying to communicate?
3.Do you think the clip is effective? Why or why not?
4.How do you think the messaging/clip could be further improved?

1.I think they are little children under the age of 12. Since many children of their age like cartoons and they use animations and talking objects to pass the message, I think the children would be attracted to the nice pictures on the screen and also listen to what the animations have to say.
2.They want kids to learn from a young age to conserve energy and so, they decided to tell them about the CFL bulbs and how they would be better than incandescent bulbs and to conserve energy by switching off appliances when not in use.
3.Yes. Most 6-10years old kids might watch it and if they do not understand the video, they would ask their parents and their parents would explain the concept and the kids would learn to conserve energy in the two main ways they can. Replace bulbs with CFL bulbs and to switch off appliances after use.
4.They could show the consequences of not conserving energy, but in a more mild way, instead of showing harsh things like people eating raw meat without energy to cook the meat so as to not scare the audience.
1.What do you think are some of the limitations of using renewable energy resources, based on the clip that you have seen?
2.What are some possible solutions that the video have suggested?
3.How do you think Energy Conservation messages can be communicated effectively in the school or local context? Give or suggest some examples.

1.Renewable energy resources can have many disadvantages. It can be too slow, or it can affect the people. In the video the wind turbines created two main problems for the people living near the new wind farm. Noise and the strobing light effect as the wind turbines blocked the morning and evening sun. The wind turbines also need a suitable location, secluded yet with lots of wind power.
2.People could make the turbines smaller in residential areas and put the larger turbines somewhere further. But the best solution was to use less of the limited energy resources, and conserve energy. They could install solar panels, wind turbines and fuel cells and be used locally.
3.We could organize petitions, presentations, posters, flyers or do special activities like school trips to communicate the message of conserving energy to the others. We can also show them videos or examples of life without energy, letting them realize the consequences of not acting now to conserve energy
